Trust is a system property
Leaders do not distrust models in the abstract — they distrust answers that cannot be verified, that leak restricted documents, or that change quality week to week. Enterprise RAG must treat retrieval as a governed platform capability.
Permissions before embeddings
If your index ignores source ACLs, you will eventually answer with content the user should never see. Design permission-aware retrieval first, then tune chunking and embeddings.
Citations and evaluation
Show sources. Keep an evaluation set of real questions with expected documents and answer properties. Regress that set whenever you change chunking, models, or prompts.
